Valentines, valentines, what to do on valentines........
The first thing that popped into my head was how maligned cabbage is....no really!
I understand why. I mean I still have nightmares about having to face cold, boiled, dark green cabbage as a child. It was less enlightened times.
However, I've since discovered that when shredded nicely and steamed for about 5 mins, so that it develops a lovely bright 'good-for-you' green colour, it's actually very tasty. So that's what we're having tonight. Sweetheart cabbage, for my sweetheart!
Ingredients
1/2 head of sweetheart cabbage
2 knobs of butter
Pinch of salt
Couple of grinds of black pepper
Heaped tsp of wholegrain mustard
Simply shred the cabbage and place it in a pan/wok with all the other ingredients. Add in about 2 tbsps of water and place a lid on the pan. It's now ready for cooking, so prepare in advance, or just before serving. Put on a medium heat for about 5 minutes & serve when hot!
Nutritional Information
Cabbage is one of those underrated superfoods. It's a rich source of phytochemicals that are excellent at helping the body detoxify and have anti-cancer and heart protective properties.
